Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisor reporting to the Environmental Superintendent. This is a residential position based at our KCGM Operations in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, working a 5:2 4:3 roster – 9 hours per day.
You will be supported by experienced leaders and will be responsible for facilitating compliance monitoring & reporting with our legal obligations, implementing project approvals and providing supervision & guidance to the KCGM Environmental team.
Responsibilities
* Oversee compliance with all regulatory and company standards, ensuring monitoring and reporting activities are completed on time, in line with requirements.
* Coordinate technical studies required to support environmental approval applications.
* Assist with the preparation of environmental approval applications to ensure operational continuity of the sites, as required.
* Interpret legislation, government guidelines, and approvals to guide site operational teams in maintaining compliance and adhering to regulatory requirements.
* Champion environmental approvals processes and support the implementation of the sites Environmental Management System (EMS).
* Analyse, interpret and report on the results of environmental monitoring data and trends.
* Liaise with key external stakeholders, including Government regulators, neighbouring landholders and internal stakeholders.
* Participate in environmental incident investigations and follow-up on corrective actions with the respective department managers.
* Contribute to the development and execution of the team's objectives, targets and plans.
* Provide supervision and guidance to the Advisors and share the on-call responsibilities with the team.
* Participate in external events and community-based activities to support Northern Star's Community Investment Program, as required.
Required Experience
Experience: 5+ years relevant experience in the mining/resources industry, experience with GIS, preferably ArcGIS Pro, and other database management programs such as Power BI and SharePoint, excellent understanding of environment/mining legislation and WA approvals, strong knowledge of environmental impacts and controls, solid understanding of Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) and auditing processes organised and effective in fast-paced environements; strong stakeholder collaboration, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree majoring in an Environment related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution, current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
