About The Role
As a Casual Youth Worker, you'll be right at the heart of supporting young people as they navigate challenges with alcohol and other substance use on their path to recovery. You'll work as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that's passionate about delivering holistic, person-centred care.
You'll help create a safe, secure, and welcoming 24-hour residential environment where young people can feel supported and empowered. You'll actively engage them in pro-social activities, build everyday life skills, and contribute to a positive, uplifting atmosphere that reflects the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
Role Responsibilities
* Complete life-skills assessments and create individual Life & Living Skills plans covering wellbeing, hygiene, budgeting, household tasks, parenting, and healthy relationships.
* Keep accurate client records in SAMIS and meet all TSA case-noting standards.
* Ensure young people's voices inform the program through exit interviews and participation in meetings.
* Respond to and report critical incidents according to policy.
* Work collaboratively with the team to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
* Provide information and referrals to community and government services.
* Support young people to strengthen family and social networks.
* Safely transport clients in TSA vehicles.
* Deliver support aligned with the TSA Youth Service Model of Care using case management and risk frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience
* Certificate IV or higher in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services, or equivalent.
* Experience supporting people with alcohol and other drug concerns within a case-management framework.
* Experience working with young people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
* Understanding of issues related to substance use, mental health, and disability (desirable).
* Ability to manage unpredictable behaviour, respond to challenging situations, and follow incident procedures.
* Strong active-listening skills with the ability to assess crises and apply crisis-intervention and conflict-resolution principles.

* A current first aid or the ability to quickly obtain one
