Outdoor Maintenance Handyperson
Join Calco Group – where presentation, safety, and pride in workmanship matter.
Calco Trusses and Timber is a family-owned business based in South Geelong. We manufacture Timber Frames and Trusses for the new home building industry. The business has a long proud history with a strong view to the future and has grown substantially over the past few years to now have over 100 employees.
We're looking for a motivated Outdoor Maintenance Handy Person to help keep our sites and grounds looking their best. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining tidy spaces, and has a practical, can-do approach to general repairs and maintenance.
About the Role
As our Outdoor Maintenance Handy Person, you'll play a key part in ensuring Calco sites are safe, clean, and well presented. You'll maintain garden, grounds, and offices across multiple locations, as well as assist with basic repair works and general upkeep as required.
Your days will be varied – from mowing and edging to minor repairs, painting, and supporting our team with maintenance projects. Flexibility and initiative will be essential, as no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
* Grounds & Gardens – mowing, edging, pruning, weeding, spraying, and keeping site gardens and nature strips neat and presentable.
* General Maintenance – minor repairs, painting/staining, window cleaning, spill/damage response, and other building upkeep tasks.
* Tools & Equipment – operate and maintain mowers, whipper snippers, blowers, sweepers, sprayers, and general hand tools safely and responsibly.
* Other Duties – occasional housekeeping, stocktaking, timber treatment, or order picking, as directed.
What We're Looking For
* Practical, hands-on skills in gardening and general maintenance. We are not looking for a qualified landscaper or horticulturist; instead, this role is suited to someone who enjoys varied outdoor work and has a practical, hands-on approach to maintenance.
* Ability to work independently, follow schedules, and prioritise tasks.
* Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work, including manual handling.
* Experience using maintenance equipment (mowers, whipper snippers, ladders, blowers, etc.).
* Commitment to safety, including correct PPE use and adherence to company policies.
* A flexible, team-oriented attitude – willing to help out where needed.
What We Offer
* A stable, full-time role with variety in your day.
* Opportunity to work across multiple departments within a supportive team.
* A positive and safety-focused work environment.
Important Information
* Outdoor work means exposure to sun, heat, cold, and dust – PPE must always be worn.
* A current driver's licence is preferred for travel between sites.
