Cadet Environmental Health Officer Opportunity
Seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Cadet Environmental Health Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental health while completing your studies.
Gain technical knowledge, develop valuable skills, and receive hands-on experience in delivering services that address environmental factors impacting public health. Participate in annual inspection programs aligned with environmental and public health legislation, using a risk-based assessment framework to ensure community safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct monitoring programs, analyse data, undertake or arrange sample testing and make recommendations relating to the outcomes of same.
* Investigate pollution incidents, public health and environmental matters, gather evidence and all relevant information and recommend appropriate action in accordance with statutory obligations.
* Resolve customer complaints with all relevant legislation and approved policies.
* Provide technical advice to customers and apply provisions of legislation covering environmental and public health issues.
* Assist in processing referrals related to environmental and public health issues including food premises, acoustic issues, contamination, air and water pollution, wastewater disposal, sewerage treatment systems, cooling towers, swimming pools and skin penetration.
Requirements:
* Have completed first year of a tertiary degree in Environmental Health, Environment Science, Environmental Management etc.
* Commitment to completing all training course requirements including workshop residentials.
* Ability to understand written communication and prepare professional written communication.
* Enjoy working in a team environment.
* Have good attention to detail and experience with software such as Microsoft 365.
* Hold a minimum of Provisional Drivers Licence.

About the Role:
This cadetship is a four-year program designed to support you in completing a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus on Environmental Health, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
You will be supported to participate in annual inspection programs aligned with environmental and public health legislation, using a risk-based assessment framework to ensure community safety. You'll also contribute to fostering a collaborative team environment and delivering high-quality services to the public.
