Air Affairs is a leader in air threat representation, test and evaluation, unmanned targets and mission rehearsal. The business provides targets and training services and electronic warfare capabilities to the Australian Defence Force, in addition to aerial surveillance and reconnaissance in support of government firefighting efforts. Headquartered in Nowra, New South Wales, Air Affairs owns and operates a fleet of special mission aircraft and maintains an advanced manufacturing and engineering facility providing design, manufacture and certification operations.
Reporting directly to the General Manager Commercial QinetiQ Australia, as the Strategic Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for delivering dedicated and strategic commercial leadership and support to QinetiQ Air Affairs for both strategic growth opportunities, contract delivery, supply chain management and export compliance. In this key role, you will work collaboratively with the QinetiQ Air Affairs leadership team and other business and functional team members to ensure the business achieves sound commercial outcomes in its contractual arrangements while maximising financial/operational performance and ensuring compliance.
**As our ideal applicant for this key role, you'll present with**:
Relevant tertiary qualifications coupled with substantial experience working in a commercial contracting environment, preferably within the commercial aviation and/or defence sectors
A successful track record in negotiating and managing contracts of medium to high risk/complexity
A well-developed understanding of the commercial, supply chain, regulatory (includes but is not limited to export controls), and the industry environment to inform strategy, decision making and provide sound commercial advice to business leaders
Well-developed commercial acumen coupled with an acute ability for risk mitigation and superior problem solving, communication and influencing skills
Due to the nature of our work, applicants need to be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance.
