Ceva is looking for a versatile and experienced Maintenance Fitter / Technician to join our friendly and collaborative team at our pharmaceutical manufacturing site. This is a hands-on role with broad responsibility across mechanical plant, packaging equipment, and general site services in a GMP / sterile environment.
This role will suit a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner, a dual-trade Maintenance Technician (mechanical with electrical exposure), or a Graduate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with hands-on maintenance experience, who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and working closely with production teams.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Maintenance Fitter Technician based in the Greater Sydney Area. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of manufacturing and packing equipment, while supporting general site maintenance activities. You will play a key role in minimising downtime, maintaining compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform routine, breakdown, and preventative maintenance on pharmaceutical packing equipment including autoclaves, bottle washers, and packing machines.
· Troubleshoot and repair equipment to minimize downtime.
· Maintain equipment in compliance with GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements, particularly within sterile environments.
· Conduct regular inspections and address any issues promptly to maintain operational efficiency.
· Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve equipment-related issues.
· Record maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment performance (experience with MEX or CMMS systems highly regarded)
· Assist in the implementation of maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Co-ordinate general maintenance tasks as required, including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work.
· Source and purchase spare parts and consumables as required
Qualifications
Australian-recognised trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, or similar), or a Graduate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated hands-on maintenance experience.
Proven experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or pharmaceutical environment.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
Experience with pneumatic systems and parts fabrication.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
Strong attention to detail and safety focus.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a small team.
Highly Regarded:
Exposure to pharmaceutical, food, or sterile/GMP facilities.
Experience with autoclaves, bottle washers, and packaging machinery.
Dual-trade background (mechanical/electrical)
Experience using MEX or other CMMS software.
Experience working in cleanrooms or sterile environments.
