About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Shipping & Logistics Coordinator / Manager to manage end-to-end export logistics for meat shipments sourced from multiple suppliers and delivered to multiple customers globally.
This role sits at the center of the business and requires strong communication skills, ability to think commercially and make sound commercial decisions that maintain relationships and a solid understanding of export compliance and international shipping. You will work closely with traders, meat packers, shipping lines, cold storage providers, and overseas customers to ensure shipments are executed smoothly and commercially.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate export shipments of chilled and frozen meat products from multiple suppliers and origins.
* Manage all export documentation, including:
* Import permits
* Health certificates and export permits
* Bills of Lading
* Commercial invoices and packing lists
* Book and manage shipments with shipping lines
* Monitor vessel schedules, cut-offs, and shipment progress across multiple markets
* Communicate shipment status and documentation to overseas customers
* Troubleshoot shipping delays, rollovers, and documentation issues
* Ensure compliance with importing country requirements and customer specifications
* Maintain accurate shipment records and reporting
* Support traders with logistics costings, freight estimates, and shipment planning
Manager-level responsibilities (where applicable):
* Negotiate freight rates and manage logistics budgets
* Manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and service providers
* Drive process improvements across shipping, documentation, and compliance workflows
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in shipping/logistics within the Australian meat export sector, preferably for a trading house or meat packer
* Strong understanding of export documentation and DAFF/AQIS requirements
* Experience handling chilled and frozen protein exports
* Familiarity with Incoterms and international trade practices
* High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
* Ability to manage multiple shipments, suppliers, and markets simultaneously
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Commercial awareness and ability to support trading activities
