About the Role
The Aboriginal Family Birthing Program is committed to providing culturally safe support to Aboriginal women, and women with a baby that identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, through pregnancy, birth and early parenting.
* Support the provision of antenatal, birthing and postnatal care that respects and values cultural practices
* Facilitate access to community, health and social supports, strengthening care pathways and improving outcomes
* Work collaboratively with midwives, doctors and Aboriginal Health teams to ensure safe and effective care
* Advocate for culturally safe practice, offering cultural insight, education and guidance to staff
Key Qualifications and Skills
* Degree in a related field such as nursing, midwifery or Indigenous studies
* Experience working with Aboriginal communities and families
* Strong understanding of cultural protocols and practices
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
