Pathology Assistant Central Specimen Reception, Queensland Health
Seeking the best suited applicant to join our team of dedicated health Professionals.
This role will be responsible for performing a broad range of simple to complex pre-analytical procedures consistently and accurately and maintaining competence in the operational aspects of the unit.
The laboratory delivers a 7-day a week/24 hour service.
All newly appointed staff may be required to work weekends and public holidays, including overtime as required.
In the future, you may also be required to take part in a 24-hour continuous shift roster, working a combination of day, afternoon and overnight shifts within each fortnight.
Key Competencies (Role Specific Criteria)
Experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pre-analytical processes, e.g. sorting, coding, data entry, aliquoting, parcel management, etc. in the specimen reception unit.
Demonstrated data entry skills with the ability to work accurately and give attention to detail.
Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
Proven ability to manage time effectively and work without direct supervision.
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and communication skills to enable effective interaction within a work group and between clients (internal and external).
The Central Specimen Reception unit delivers a 7-day a week service.
All newly appointed staff are contracted to work any rostered shift within the 7-day roster period, including weekends and public holidays, and may be required to take part in a 24-hour continuous shift roster.
This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.
Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement, in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO).
Demonstrate ability to cooperate and actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, workplace health and safety and an ethical environment.
