Medical Laboratory Technician - Cryopreservation

* Ongoing, Full or Part Time positions available (up to 1.0 EFT)
* Grade 1: BU1 - BU8 ($59,207.20 to $76,346.40 p.a. AUD) depending on qualifications and experience

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technician will provide a high quality, effective and innovative service in the cryopreservation department that meets the requirements of the code of Good Manufacturing Practice for Human Blood and Tissues (cGMP), ISO 15189 (Medical Testing) and the clinical needs of patients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Smooth and efficient operation of daily workflow, product receipt, tracking, dispatch where appropriate, tracking, discard, cryopreservation, preparing product for administration and product release and test performance.
* Collaborating with other stakeholders within ACT to maintain quality assurance.
* Ensuring stock compliance within specification is available for manufacture.
* Assisting in coordination and communication for logistics management of Cellular therapy projects.
* Assisting in document updates for various standard of care and clinical trial projects within Cryopreservation department.
* Participates in internal and external Quality Assurance programs.

About you

You will have a demonstrable ability to work and communicate cooperatively in a team including other scientists, senior scientists, pathologists, nursing staff, clinical staff, and researchers.

You'll bring with you

* Competence and knowledge in information systems (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, LIMS and Explorer/Netscape).
* Appropriate experience and knowledge of haemato-oncology.
* Patient documentation, product handling and management and understanding.
* Experience in Equipment and laboratory maintenance tasks including performing validations.
* Appropriate experience and knowledge of haematology.
* Responsible attitude and work ethic.
* Professional approach to patient care, service confidentiality and provision of pathology/testing services.
* Demonstrable ability to meet the clinical expectations of clients.

A qualification in Medical Science, Health Science or relevant discipline or progression towards will be an advantage.

* Stakeholders contributing to the HPC Cryopreservation program including Cell Therapies Pty Ltd (CTPL) & ACT
* Liaises with external clients and institutions

Skills

* Competence and knowledge in information systems (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, LIMS and Explorer/Netscape).
* Appropriate experience and knowledge of haemato-oncology
* Patient documentation, product handling and management and understanding.
* Experience in Equipment and laboratory maintenance tasks including performing validations

* Experience in delivering an ISO 15189 compliant Cryopreservation service
* Haematology diagnostic laboratory experience.
* Understanding of Medical Microbiology
* Recognised scientific training and competence relevant to the position including knowledge in cell therapy/cryopreservation, analytical methods
* GCP certificate
* Experience in handling Cellular therapy products
* Experience with Liquid Nitrogen handling (Products and Equipments)
* Understanding and practical experience of the requirements of the code of Good Manufacturing Practice for Human Blood and Tissues (cGMP)

Key Accountabilities

* Performance of testing and quality activities according to PMCC Cryopreservation procedures
* Logistics management and project implementation of cellular therapy products
* Equipment is calibrated and maintained according to laboratory policy & procedures
* Clinically significant results and Non-Conformance Reports are reported to requesting clinicians and external clients
* Quality Assurance: participates in internal and external programs and adheres to policies
* Works as part of a team, communicating and cooperating with coworkers to ensure work is completed within appropriate timeframes
* Follows Peter Mac policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and safety, and undergoes performance appraisals
