The Job Working alongside the Executive Producer, assist in leading and managing the Radio National Breakfast team to deliver an agenda-setting daily radio news and current affairs program. Under broad direction of the Executive Producer, take a highly creative approach to editorial planning, generating original story ideas, breaking news, agenda-setting angles and fresh talent with a diversity of perspectives, while maintaining the highest editorial standards. Write and produce well researched, sophisticated and comprehensive briefs that engage and inform the audience. Help to manage the program team and provide constructive feedback to guide, develop and encourage colleagues. Maintain a strong working relationship with a high-profile presenter and help to manage relationships with contributors. Generate stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity of the country. Actively engage with communities in Australia’s outer suburbs to find and tell stories that are relevant for them and in line with the News strategy. High level editorial skills with an excellent news sense and a demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, domestic and international issues and debates, from politics to economics, to business and the arts. Highly advanced ability to produce sophisticated and comprehensive briefs on complex topics. Proven ability to manage and develop team members to produce outstanding quality work to tight deadlines. Proven ability to handle pressure and work to tight deadlines in a live radio environment.
