Details: Do you have experience working with digital collections or digital archives? Does shaping digital preservation capability to protect vulnerable digital collections fill you with enthusiasm? Then we want to hear from you. An opportunity has opened to work in the ACT Heritage Library and Territory Records Office.
Under limited direction the Assistant Director, Digital Preservation will:
* Provide leadership, program management and team administration to ensure the delivery of consistent high-quality outcomes in set timeframes, budget allocations and resources to improve digital archiving processes and systems while ensuring compliance with standards.
* Lead activities to research, identify and recommend solutions and improvements in the storage, preservation and management of, and client access to, digital information, keeping abreast of continual developments in the field of digital archives and digital recordkeeping.
* Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures for acquiring, preserving, and managing digital archives and digital preservation systems and provide expert advice on digitisation standards for various media.
* Analyse digital collections to identify vulnerabilities and implement measures to mitigate them.
* Build, manage and maintain high quality collaborative and constructive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including ICT, other archives, and external partners to drive positive outcomes, facilitate stakeholder involvement and build awareness of and support for digital archiving and preservation initiatives.
* Design strategies and lead activities to develop staff digital capability including identifying capability gaps and needs and determine delivery mechanisms.
* Monitor and provide accurate and timely reporting on operations, project activity, workload and resources.
* This position works in a team and may involve direct supervision and mentoring of staff in the achievement of strategic goals and priorities.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
* Demonstrated experience with and understanding of electronic document management systems and digital archive and preservation systems would be an advantage.
Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of nine months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
