We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced individual to join Civic Disability Services in the position of Speech Pathologist.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based in Mornington with the flexibility to work from Melbourne to Sorento, the Speech Pathologist will be responsible for providing services for our early childhood intervention partner, Biala Peninsula, supporting children with specific developmental needs, delays, or disabilities to achieve their therapeutic goals and build the capacity of parents and caregivers.
Key responsibilities include but is not limited to:
* Provide high quality, evidence-based assessment, intervention, and support to children with disabilities and their families/carers.
* For each individual client, set specific, functional and measurable goals and evaluate progress against these goals.
* Provide intervention, training, support and consultation services in a manner that promotes community inclusion of clients in other services and community organisations they may attend.
* Work collaborative and respectfully with all staff, parents and other service providers in the provision of services.
* Manage a varied paediatric caseload alongside a multidisciplinary team and meet client targets
* Observe, record and assess children's progress as required and provide written and verbal reports to parents and other professionals within nominated timelines.
* Supporting and mentoring junior staff, therapy assistants and students.
ABOUT YOU
You are a Speech Pathologist who is energic, proactive and passionate about the work that you do. You pride yourself on your ability to achieve warm, friendly relationships with children and their families, one that is supportive of and responsive to the physical, social and emotional needs of each child.
* Previous experience working in a paediatric NDIS service provision setting (desirable).
* Bachelors degree or higher in Speech Pathology
* Certified practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia
* 5+ years' experience working in a similar role
* Sound knowledge of discipline specific interventions for working in a paediatric setting with children with disabilities and developmental concerns within the Early Childhood Approach.
* An understanding of the requirements of working in the NDIS setting and from a capacity building Early Childhood Approach.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage own time, deadline driven with exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills.
