PASTRY CHEF
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage cost controls and expenditures of all bakery and pastry production equipment, food, and curated goods.
2. Create pricing schedules for all bakery needs with all correlating outlets.
3. Source high-quality ingredients with a focus on local, sustainable, and organic items.
4. Plan and create all menus with an emphasis on seasonal items and creative menu choices.
5. Purchase and manage inventory.
6. Enforce food quality standards.
7. Hold staff meetings for food safety, quality issues, and innovations.
8. Ensure safety of physical kitchen and cafe space.
9. Meet production schedule needs for all in-house products and catered events.
10. Create a pleasant and fun environment for SpaceX employees to meet and share a meal.
11. Build a structure to deliver in-house catering and support company and special events.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
2. 3+ years of professional experience as a bakery or pastry chef and in culinary management.
3. Valid driver's license.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Degree in culinary arts.
2. High volume production and/or catering experience.
3. Proven ability to create innovative menus on a daily basis.
4. Ability to perform under pressure.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Possess a creative spirit and ability to make the culinary experience part of the SpaceX culture.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
2. Physical activities include lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying.
3. Ability to work all required shift hours, including weekends, as needed.
4. Ability to work a schedule that meets the department needs.
