**What's the role?**
- Ideate & create editorial design solutions in cadence with the newsroom, marketing, product and project teams.
- Collaborate on projects from start to finish including consulting with editorial (plus product and delivery teams where necessary) to understand project goals and establish comprehensive design briefs.
- Manage design requests and feedback from stakeholders.
- Develop style guides for editorial content across all channels.
- Provide recommendations to improve company/editorial standards where applicable.
- Update internal workflow and knowledge systems with project information (Jira, Wiki, Pattern libraries).
- Remain abreast of the latest industry trends and share with team members to up skill as necessary.
- Design projects delivered on key metrics and satisfy all stakeholder objectives.
- Provide estimates on time required for given tasks and communicate any changes to these estimates.
- Ensure image rights of assets are honoured.
- Ensure consistent file versioning and archiving processes and managed and followed.
- Assist in QA testing all editorial projects as required.
- Create a visual narrative.
**Who you are**
- 5+ years of experience working as a digital designer.
- Demonstrate ability to create strong visual and motion designs that intelligently incorporate audio, video, still images and text also taking into account UI, typography, colour logic, motion, behaviour and information architecture.
- Proficient with industry-standard design tools (Sketch [preferred], Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Zeplin etc.).
- Experience creating omni-channel design solutions for both on and off platform
- A robust understanding of digital production, appreciation of front-end development techniques and a working knowledge of HTML/CSS.
- Ability to meet deadlines and to adapt to change in a daily, unpredictable newsroom environment.
- Superior conceptual and critical thinking abilities.
- An understanding of agile methodology, workflow tools ie Jira/confluence and experience working within a design language system
- Excellent organisation of work and work assets, such as logical arrangement of layers in Photoshop documents and suitable commenting of CSS files.
- Excellent verbal / written skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts effectively in order to justify decisions made to meet the brief.
- Ability to operate quickly and calmly within a large, complex, high pressure, dynamic environment, while setting and maintaining key priorities.
- Interest in remaining up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies used for storytelling
- Have a great understanding of social media and how to grow audience through design
