About the NT Health Library ServicesThe NT Health Library Services supports the research and information needs of all NT Health staff and affiliated health professionals throughout the Northern Territory.The Library network is located in 5 of the NT hospitals consisting of two staffed branch libraries located in the Darwin and Alice Springs hospitals; and 3 unstaffed libraries in the Katherine, Tennant Creek and Gove hospitals and online support for remote, regional and Palmerston staff.About the roleThis is a full-time, ongoing position.
This position reports to the Manager Training and Research Support and works in collaboration with the Training and Research Support librarians and other library staff as well as NT staff requesting Library Services.As part of the Library Services team, you will:Provide information required by departmental staff to support patient care, research projects, policy and guideline writing and clinical governance.Combine expert literature searching and critical appraisal skills with knowledge of local resources and local issues in departmental subject areas, to provide evidence for clinical decision-making.Contribute to the continuing education of all staff by participating in teaching activities and delivering health information literacy workshops.Collaborate in the evaluation and development of the library's information resources and collections to meet the learning, research, and clinical needs of NT Health staff.There will be some travel to the NT Health Libraries based in regional locations.About YouWe are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:Degree or postgraduate diploma in library and information science recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and/or eligible for Associate Membership of ALIA.Proven experience in the delivery of professional research and information services, contemporary knowledge of scholarly resources in all formats and collection development principles and practices.Advanced digital literacy skills and experience in searching a wide range of electronic resources and research databases.Proven experience in delivering training programs in areas such as information literacy and research skills.Knowledge of the research process to support clients' research outputs.Demonstrated solid customer focus and experience in delivering library services in an online environment, including the use of desktop collaboration tools.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with professionals and researchers.An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.Experience in a health services or academic librarian role.The successful applicant may be eligible for relocation assistance.For more information please contact Marg Purnell on 08 8922 6994
