Position Purpose
The Clinical Educator (Orthoptist) is responsible for providing clinical supervision, teaching, and assessment of orthoptic students undertaking clinical placements at the La Trobe Eye Clinic and in outreach environments. The role supports the delivery of high‐quality orthoptic services to the community while fostering students' development of clinical competence, professional conduct, and reflective practice, in accordance with University requirements and the standards of the Discipline of Orthoptics.
Responsibilities
* Providing clinical education to orthoptic students across student‐led clinics and outreach activities such as school‐based vision screening programmes.
* Providing evidence‐based orthoptic services to children and adults.
* Monitoring, assessing and reporting on student clinical performance.
* Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and assessment records.
Qualifications
* A recognised qualification in Orthoptics and eligibility for registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board.
* Clinical experience in ocular motility, neuro‐orthoptics and/or low vision.
* Demonstrated commitment to clinical education and student supervision.
* Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
