Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Counselor and Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting students, families, and communities in overcoming barriers to health and wellbeing.
School counseling requires the ability to work with individuals, groups, and communities at the interface between the student, school organization, peers, family, neighborhood, and wider society.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide direct support to students and families addressing social and emotional needs through psycho-social assessments, critical incident response, advocacy, and liaison with community service providers.
* Contribute to the delivery of student support services within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Develop and implement student wellbeing policies across the school.
* Support the school and staff in developing educational programs for students with additional needs.
* Liaise with community service organizations, hospitals, specialist programs, and other professionals as directed by the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, applicants must possess:
* A qualification as a psychologist, social worker, mental health nurse, occupational therapist, or counselor of a prescribed class.
* Full registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) where applicable.
* Membership with relevant professional associations.
