Rail Safety Coordinator – Projects

About The Role

Reporting to the V/line Alliance Rail Safety Manager we are seeking multiple experienced Rail Safety Coordinators to provide specialist safeworking support to major work packages across the Northwest Program Alliance, Western Program Alliance, Southern Program Alliance, and the Signalling Packages.

You will ensure compliance with rail safety management policies, procedures, and processes and provide support with policy interpretation and rail safety guidance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a rail safety professional who thrives in a dynamic project environment and is passionate about delivering safe, compliant rail operations.

Key accountabilities include:
* Provide 24/7 safeworking advice to Project Managers and project personnel
* Deliver specialist guidance on V/Line Work on Track Rules and requirements of adjacent Rail Infrastructure Managers
* Build strong working relationships with the Regional Access Manager and safeworking labour hire partners
* Oversee and support contract safeworking labour hire, including direction on process and rostering
* Develop Rail Safety Management Plans, Agreed Protection Plans, and Safeworking Circulars
* Review project access requests prior to submission
* Conduct Track Protection Inspections and manage associated databases and audit schedules
* Complete rail safety investigations into safeworking incidents
* Represent safeworking at project risk assessments, site walks, and audits
* Perform the role of Site Surveillance Coordinator and Supervising TFPC during Absolute Occupations
* Deliver toolbox talks on Track Protection and Access as required
Location & Travel Considerations

This role will have the use of a Tool of Trade for travel requirements to alliance project sites and will be required to attend occupations, therefore have flexibility with working hours that include night shifts.

About You

You will bring a strong rail operations background and the confidence to provide expert guidance in a complex, high risk‐environment.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
* Previous experience in rail operations, ideally within the V/Line Network
* Demonstrated experience working on track, including interfaces with adjacent infrastructure managers
* Solid knowledge of V/Line Work on Track Rules and Operating Procedures
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* V/Line TFPC 3.2 or 3.3 competency
* Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
