Community Mental Health Worker

Job Description:
As a Community Mental Health Worker, you will provide person-centred support to individuals facing mental health challenges, helping them achieve their life goals.
Deliver intensive, recovery-oriented support to help people work towards their wellbeing goals, develop independent living skills and daily routines, build confidence to live safely in the community, and strengthen social and community connections.
This role requires flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support people to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
2. Purposefully engage with people using techniques including: Brief intervention, Motivational interviewing and coaching, Family inclusive practice, Trauma informed practice, Conflict resolution.
3. Plan and deliver group programs that aid people to build their skills and focus on recovery.
4. Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and the provision of information, education and referrals.
5. Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to people's recovery goals.
6. Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the residential service through undertaking a range of housekeeping duties.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Youth Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
* Proven experience in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
* Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma-informed care and family inclusive practice.
* Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
* Ability to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine-preventable diseases or willingness to obtain required vaccinations per Queensland Health partnership.
