Position Summary
We're looking for an experienced and driven Project Manager to drive the stand-up and execution of a major Australian airborne ISR program. In this pivotal role, you'll be at the forefront of planning, coordinating, and delivering critical work streams throughout both the Transition-In phase and the full Operational Term.
As our Project Manager, you'll lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors across engineering, logistics, training, and operational support. You'll own delivery—ensuring milestones are met, risks are managed, and outcomes align with contractual commitments, regulatory requirements, and CASA standards.
This is a dynamic, hands-on leadership role suited to a proven project professional with Defence, aerospace, aviation, or complex systems delivery experience. Role And Responsibilities
* Lead day-to-day project management of assigned work packages during the Transition-In period, including planning, scheduling, and coordination with subcontractors.
* Develop and maintain the Contract Master Schedule (CMS) and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) ensuring seamless integration of work packages across the Transition-In and Operational phases while maintaining schedule fidelity.
* Support program governance, progress reporting, and risk management to ensure all milestones are achieved.
* Coordinate activities between Metrea, key subcontractors and suppliers, and Commonwealth stakeholders.
* Manage project performance tracking, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality objectives are met.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of management plans including the Risk Management and Fraud Control Plan, Contract Management Plan, and Data Management System.
* Support program reporting through the preparation of Contract Status Reports (CSRs), schedule updates, and resource forecasts.
* Work closely with HR and Training teams to monitor workforce readiness and sustainment of project-critical roles.
* Participate in Verification & Validation (V&V) planning and readiness reviews, ensuring operational systems are tested and accepted.
* Foster collaboration and communication across disciplines, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills And Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
* PMP certification or equivalent program management certification preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in project management or coordination within Defence, aerospace, or government programs.
* Experience preparing or contributing to Contract Master Schedules and Contract Status Reports within ASDEFCON-based environments.
* Experience in delivering CASA Part 138 (Aerial Work) or Part 145 (Maintenance) environments highly regarded.
* Proven ability to manage complex technical or operational projects from initiation through delivery.
* Strong understanding of risk, schedule, and cost management principles (PMBOK / ASDEFCON environment preferred).
* Demonstrated experience coordinating subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
* Familiarity with integrated program schedules, resource management, and contract deliverables tracking.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
* Experience in MS Office Tools related to Project Management (MS Project, Planner, etc,)
* Strong leadership and problem-solving skills in high-tempo environments.
* Results-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities.
* Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
* Familiarity with Defence or Government contracting frameworks (ASDEFCON) highly desirable.

Security Clearance
Must be an Australian Citizen and must hold or be immediately capable of holding an Australian Government Security Clearance (Baseline or NV1).
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs.
