About Us
The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) is part of one of Australia's most respected and trusted organisations, providing 24‐hour emergency aeromedical retrievals and essential healthcare to people living and working in remote, rural, and regional communities. Based in Broken Hill, the Clive Bishop Medical Centre (opened in 2014) delivers patient‐centred care to the town and surrounding regions in a collegial, supportive work environment.
Opportunity
We are seeking a reliable and organised Medical Receptionist to join our team on a casual basis, 11.3 hours per week. This role is essential for the smooth day‐to‐day operation of the practice and for delivering excellent service to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Triage and manage patient phone calls and enquiries
- Greet patients and provide high‐quality customer service
- Maintain and update patient records and documentation
- Manage appointments, recalls, and reminders
- Support TeleHealth bookings and coordination
- Liaise with hospitals, pathology providers and other health services
- Assist with billing, invoicing and payment processing (EFTPOS, cash, cheque)
- Handle incoming/outgoing medical documentation (scanning, faxing, filing)
- Support accreditation processes and maintain compliance standards
- Assist with medical supplies and pathology sample handling
- Operate and troubleshoot office equipment
- Contribute to a safe workplace, infection control and quality improvement practices
About You
- Previous administrative or reception experience (medical preferred)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of office systems and data entry
- Familiarity with medical terminology (desirable)
- Experience with medical software (e.g. Best Practice, Hot Docs) is an advantage
- NSW Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Evidence of Category A Vaccinations (or willingness to obtain)
