Position Type: Regular - Full-Time
Position Location: Adelaide Safries
Requisition ID: 37362
In every role, McCainers are ambitious, curious, and passionate about creating exceptional work experiences - together. With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy.
About the role.
Join McCain as our Distributor Manager for SA, WA & NT, where you’ll drive Foodservice growth across three states by managing a broad portfolio of smaller, lower-volume customers. Ideally based in Adelaide (or Perth for the right candidate), you’ll be trusted to work independently, maintain strong face-to-face customer relationships, and take ownership of results across your region. This is a field-based role with frequent travel within Adelaide and regular visits to WA and NT.
What you’ll be doing.
* State-Level Account Management: Manage a diverse portfolio of Foodservice customers (Bidfood, Countrywide, Nafda, PFD, Superior, Campbell’s, and Independent Foodservice) at both state and branch levels, focusing on relationship-building and service delivery.
* Strategic Execution: Partner with National Customer Managers and Field Managers to implement sales and marketing strategies that achieve sales volume, NSV, and margin targets.
* Business Planning & Promotion: Develop and manage customer business plans, promotions, and product launches to strengthen McCain’s brand presence across SA, WA, and NT.
* Customer & Team Communication: Maintain regular, proactive communication on stock, pricing, claims, and performance with both customers and the internal sales team.
* Reporting & Compliance: Complete business reviews and reports, ensure adherence to McCain policies, and manage trade spend effectively.
* Field Engagement: Conduct frequent field visits, especially within Adelaide, and provide support to non-directly managed customers to strengthen relationships and ensure supply continuity.
* Travel: Travel within Adelaide is required several days per week; travel to WA is required approximately once every six weeks, and to NT twice a year.
What you’ll need to be successful.
* 5+ years’ sales experience, ideally in the Foodservice industry, with a proven ability to independently manage customer relationships and deliver results.
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, requiring minimal coaching, and to quickly adapt and take ownership of a multi-state territory.
* Experience in sales strategy development, business planning, and achieving commercial targets.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with tools like Salesforce, Power BI, SAP, and EDW is advantageous.
* Strong commercial acumen, including financial literacy, data analysis, and business insight.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; capable of influencing both customers and internal teams.
* Self-motivated, autonomous, and collaborative, with flexibility to travel frequently within SA and occasionally to WA, NT and nationally as required.
* Ideally based in Adelaide, strong Perth-based candidates will also be considered.
About the team.
You’ll report to the Business Manager and join a close-knit group of six Distributor Managers across ANZ, each responsible for their own state or territory. You’ll work closely with two indirect peers in SA and WA who manage local field teams, and collaborate with field sales reps to ensure smooth operations and shared business objectives. While you won’t have direct reports, you’ll play a key role in connecting with both the state-based and national teams, contributing to ongoing growth and innovation in the Foodservice business.
