Great opportunity take on a leadership role within the Research and Evaluation Branch of a federal agency responsible for implementing Australia's largest social reform since Medicare.
Initial 12 month contract with ongoing extensions highly likely.
**The Role**
The EL1 Assistant Director Research and Evaluation will support the delivery of an internal service that conducts research and evaluation using a range of methods to inform Agency decisions. The branch aims to improve evidence-based decision making within the NDIA and finds solutions to high priority issues, shaping disability research to maximise its impact for the NDIS.
The EL1 Assistant Director Research and Evaluation will provide detailed technical, professional, policy and operational advice in relation to complex problems. It will be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program, project management and policy development.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Working with internal stakeholders to identify, prioritise, scope, develop and manage project plans
- Leading mixed methods research and evaluation projects using a range of quantitative, qualitative and survey methodologies
- Ensuring research and evaluation is conducted in accordance with appropriate guidelines, standard operating procedures, NDIS standards and ethics requirements, and maintaining project related records
- Preparing and presenting internal reports and slide-pack summaries for internal and external stakeholders
- Working collaboratively with other teams in the Research and Evaluation Branch, as required
- Designing and conducting research projects, including working with people with various types of disabilities and from various cultural backgrounds
- Communicate and support the implementation of research findings
**About You**
The successful applicant will have:
- A strong understanding of academic and professional research, and an extensive background in Qualitative and Quantitative Research, and Evaluation
- Strong qualitative research skills, and a skillset that includes data collection and analysis, quantitative research and statistics, biostatistics or econometrics
- Excellent project management skills, and significant experience managing or leading commercial research projects, including the ability to lead other researchers, set priorities, manage timelines and plans, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure to achieve project goals in line with stakeholder expectations
- A background in government, public or allied health, social sciences, clinical psychology, NGOs or consulting will be ideal
This is an EL1 level role with a daily rate of $585+super on offer. The role can be based out of any capital city in Australia.
