About the Job

Join SA Water as a Maintenance Technical Officer and apply your trade expertise to develop and manage capital projects that support mechanical, electrical, and fabrication upgrades across South Australia. While this role provides support statewide, its primary focus is on our northern regions including South Para, Crystal Brook, Whyalla, Port Lincoln, and surrounding areas.

In this role, you will shape capital projects that set our operations and maintenance teams up for long-term success. You'll ensure new works are practical, maintainable, and aligned with real operational conditions. Working closely with project managers, engineering teams, asset supervisors, and regional workshop teams, you will provide technical guidance, respond to RFIs, carry out site investigations, and contribute to high‐quality project outcomes.

About Operations and Maintenance

The Operations & Maintenance team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, they aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.

About the Person

You are a qualified Electrical, Mechanical, or Fabrication tradesperson looking to expand into a more strategic, project-focused role. You excel at problem‐solving and communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, and you understand how assets operate within maintenance operational environments. You enjoy collaborating with both office‐based and workshop teams and bring the confidence to guide practical, effective project decisions.

You enjoy the flexibility in planning your own week, travelling to sites when required, and working independently while contributing to a supportive and experienced team of officers. Your hands‐on trade experience and clear communication skills enable you to influence project outcomes and ensure upgrades are fit for purpose and maintainable.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

* Coordinate and deliver Capital work packages in partnership with engineering, operation & maintenance, and project teams.
* Provide technical input and oversight on asset maintenance and upgrade activities.
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, particularly PMs and operation & maintenance teams.
* Travel regularly to regional sites to support project implementation and stakeholder engagement.

Your success in this role will come from:

* Trade background in electrical, mechanical, or fabrication disciplines (Essential)
* Understanding of water infrastructure and associated assets. (Desirable)
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage across diverse teams.
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities across locations.
* Current driver's licence is essential.
* Availability to travel as business / project requires.
