About Us:
The Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct incorporates four custodial facilities located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The four custodial facilities consist of two maximum security prisons being HM Prison Barwon and Western Plains Correctional Centre and medium security prison Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annexe. The BSW Prison Services Team provides both operational and administrative services to HMP Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre and the Karreenga Annexe.
About the Role:
This entry level role provides administrative and data entry functions in a prison environment. Duties include processing Prisoner money and maintaining spend accounts, processing a range of applications, data entry and invoice processing, maintaining registers, ordering and processing of inventory, and preparing correspondence to internal and external stakeholders. The role is part of a team operating in secure, high-compliance environments, ensuring records are kept up-to-date and accurate.
This position requires direct prisoner contact and supervision and may involve weekend and public holiday work, in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement 2024.
Some of your duties will include:
* General administrative tasks handling Prison and Prisoner documentation, maintaining prisoner monies and spend accounts.
* Liaising with internal and external staff and stakeholders relating to prison and prisoner finance matters.
* Obtaining quotes, organising purchases and process prisoner special spend requests.
About You:
To be successful in this role you will be able to learn or demonstrate:
* Well-developed computer skills.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
* Experience and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment or ability to learn.
