Full time, Fixed Term until December, Full-Time (part‑time negotiable), Academic Level B | $113,211 - $133,974 p.a.
Location: Yolngu – Nhulunbuy, Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT.

Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program) provide workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we maintain a community‑driven research program aimed at improving health outcomes. Working alongside Poche SA+NT, we focus on Indigenous leadership capacity development and building the Indigenous health workforce, driven by values that address both short‑term and long‑term needs of the NT community.
About the Role
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the education and research that supports health care delivery in rural and remote communities, with a strong focus on Indigenous health. Based at the Nhulunbuy Campus, the Lecturer will join a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality teaching, engage in impactful research, and foster partnerships that strengthen health workforce pathways. The role combines academic leadership, community engagement, and collaboration across Flinders University’s rural health footprint.
Responsibilities
- Deliver cutting-edge teaching and support student learning across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including placement education.
- Conduct and contribute to research in rural, remote, and Indigenous health, including publications and grant acquisition.
- Build strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders to enhance recruitment and pathways for rural and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Collaborate with interprofessional teams and contribute to program development, accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in Health (PhD or equivalent), or professional experience and standing in the discipline.
- A strong research track record (appropriate to career stage), including publications and grant success.
- Sound knowledge of rural and remote health issues, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and ability to practice in a culturally safe manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and diverse health professionals.

Prescribed Conditions for Employment
A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, satisfactory to the University, is required before commencing. COVID‑19 vaccination evidence and a valid ‘Working with Children Clearance’ (Ochre Card) are also required, as this position involves child‑related work.
