As a Principal Planning Officer, you will work with the Gold Coast team, supporting the department in delivering customer focused, high-quality planning and development outcomes for the current and future Queensland communities. You will have the opportunity to contribute technical expertise and planning and development best practice to the regions we service.

Skills

We're looking for the best-suited applicant for the role. We focus on your strengths by assessing a combination of your competencies, knowledge-based skills and behavior's. For this role we are looking for strengths in:

Work in a regionally based planning team, assisting with the delivery of SARA.
Working with and supporting local governments to facilitate statutory plan making processes.
Lead and support urban and regional planning projects.
Provide expert, professional advice on the interpretation and application of the Planning Act 2016 to various stakeholders, including local government officials, state government executives, and professional consultancies.
Assist with effective state agency participation in whole-of-Government matters of state or regional significance in local government plans and land use planning processes.
Represent the department, as appropriate, at industry/stakeholders events, meetings and working groups in an effective and professional manner.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, delivering clear and direct briefings on complex planning matters to executive leadership teams, and perform additional tasks as required by the Manager and team members.
You build and manage productive working relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
Actively contribute to fostering a team environment and positive culture, where team members enjoy coming to work, are appropriately skilled and challenged and understand the contributions their role plays in the success of business outcomes.
