Situated on 2,000 ha, the JBS Riverina Plant is part of the Riverina integrated farming, feedlot and processing operation. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimizing stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality – one of only two in the southern hemisphere.
Based just outside Yanco, between the popular townships of Leeton and Narrandera in of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation district (or Riverina region), our location ensures the ability to source high quality feeder cattle and grain to produce premium beef. The plant employs approximately 420 team members with a processing capacity of 600 head of cattle per day, operating 5 days per week.
About the Role
We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Fabrication Tradesperson to join our team at JBS Riverina Plant. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing plant equipment, fabricating metal components, and ensuring the smooth operation of our production facility.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Fabricating, assembling and installing components in stainless steel as well as mild steel, aluminium and other materials
* Reading and interpreting engineered drawings and technical specifications with precision
* Performing TIG/MIG and stick welding, cutting, grinding and finishing to high-quality food grade standards
* Carrying out small repairs, modifications and custom builds across a variety of fabrication projects
* Collaborating with maintenance and engineering teams to meet deadlines and production needs including breakdowns
* Ensuring compliance with workplace safety, hygiene and quality standards
* Demonstrating flexibility by providing support in mechanical fitting duties during periods of reduced staffing (this could also be a dual trade opportunity for the right candidate)
* Proficient in executing structural and load-bearing welds to ensure strength, durability and safety
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime and enhancing efficiency
The hourly rates range from:
* Level 3 – $37.35 per hour
* Level 2 – $40.10 per hour
* Level 1 – $42.51 per hour
About You
* Strong experience in stainless steel fabrication and welding, with versatility across other metals
* Ability to work from technical drawings and deliver accurate, high-quality results
* Trade qualification in fabrication, welding or related field
* Knowledge of fabrication techniques, finishing processes and industry best practices
* Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
