2027 Senior Obstetric & Gynaecology Registrars

Requisition No: 7874

Executive Division: Operations

Enterprise Agreement: Doctors in Training (Victorian Public Health Sector)

Job Function: Medical

Role Summary
* Location: Sunshine Hospital / Joan Kirner Women's & Children's Hospital
* Employment Type: Full Time, Fixed Term (2027 clinical year)
* Salary: HM25 to HM30 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging
About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic obstetrics and gynaecology senior registrars to join the Western Health O&G team in 2027. It is our vision to provide both excellence in clinical care and vocational training.

Western Health provides women's health services across the network including our tertiary level service at Joan Kirner Women's and Children's (JKWC) at Sunshine Hospital and a lower acuity service at Bacchus Marsh Hospital.

JKWC is a purpose-built women's and children's facility that opened with state‐of‐the‐art facilities in 2019. The service cares for over 7000 mothers annually and we have a comprehensive tertiary team comprising Maternal‐Fetal Medicine, obstetric medicine, obstetric anaesthesia and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Gynaecology services include general gynaecology as well as gynae‐oncology, urogynaecology and minimally invasive surgery.

Bacchus Marsh Hospital joined the Western Health network in 2021. The lower risk maternity service is expected to grow to approximately 1000 births annually, whilst the gynaecology service supports a large number of theatre sessions and extensive ambulatory services. The site is well set‐up to provide excellent gynaecology skills development for senior registrars.

Our senior registrars enjoy a broad range of experiences, with exposure to a mix of obstetrics and gynaecology training. The absence of subspecialty gynaecology fellows at our hospital ensures that our senior registrars benefit from maximum exposure to subspecialty clinics and primary operator experience. Our team‐based structure supports our senior registrars to take on leadership roles within their teams and within the unit.

Senior registrar positions (RANZCOG accredited) for 2027 are structured to provide opportunities to maintain and develop skills relevant to the intended future scope of specialist practice post‐FRANZCOG. Training objectives include:

Training objectives
* Develop and demonstrate skills relevant to audit, clinical research trials, leadership and administration relevant to a busy Level 6 maternity service
* Maintain and develop complex obstetric management skills, including birthing unit management, complex operative obstetrics and supervision/teaching of junior trainees and HMOs

* Advanced trainees in their final year of training are encouraged to engage in Transition to Fellowship opportunities
Each position has a combination of:
* Service commitment to maternity services including antenatal clinic, acute birthing and inpatient obstetric care (including rostered after‐hours)
