About Central Gippsland Health (CGH)

Central Gippsland Health is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. CGH operates across three campuses (Sale, Maffra, Heyfield) and offers acute care, community services, and aged care.

About the Role

This role is that of an unaccredited Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar. The registrar assists in the clinical and administrative management of obstetric/gynaecology patients and supports the ED team.

Duties

* Clinical management of obstetric and gynaecology patients, including history, physical examination, investigation, assessment, care planning and coordination.
* Review patient care objectives and develop discharge plans.
* Document patient information accurately and complete discharge summaries within 2 working days.
* Attend antenatal and gynaecology outpatients clinic and labour ward as required.
* Liaise effectively with midwifery and nursing staff.
* Assist in theatre for Gynaecology and Obstetric patients and develop surgical skills.
* Initiate and monitor patient management under supervision.
* Communicate with patients, families, and GPs using appropriate language.
* Use technology appropriately to support patient care.
* Provide counseling and support to patients and families.
* Participate in operating theatre sessions and perform procedures under supervision.
* Manage post‐operative care and complications.
* Participate in registrar roster, including after‐hours emergencies.
* Provide supervision and guidance to junior staff and medical students.
* Continuously update medical knowledge and attend clinical meetings.
* Perform other duties as required, including covering other HMO's.
* Manage professional development and attend audit and education sessions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Mandatory:

* MBBS or equivalent degree with registration with AHPRA.

a. Clinical experience demonstrating sound clinical ability and judgment.

b. Completion of PGY2 or equivalent by start of first training year.

c. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact ethically with patients and team.

d. Basic knowledge of RANZCOG Training Program.

e. Familiarity with Australian or New Zealand health system and current women's health issues.

f. Commitment to a career in obstetrics and gynaecology, including enrolment in RANZCOG Training Program.

a. Some clinical experience in obstetrics and gynaecology.

b. Understanding of varying workloads in obstetrics and gynaecology.

c. Problem‐solving skills.

d. Organisational and time‐management skills.

e. Understanding of potential ethical, medico‐legal, inter‐disciplinary, and cross‐cultural conflicts.

A Police Record Check and updated every 3 years.
