Overview
The Senior Shipping Operations Officer is primarily responsible for the handling of shipping operations and activities for our import and export business.
Responsibilities
* Oversee shipping operations, including the preparation of charter parties, management of vessel operational issues, and coordination with load and discharge ports and agents for import and export shipments.
* Develop and optimise shipment schedules, ensuring alignment with the shipping schedule and port line-up, while coordinating closely with port authorities, shipping brokers, agents, and the sales and marketing team.
* Liaise with the stakeholders, logistics team and product quality control department to coordinate shipment dates and requirements, ensuring product readiness and quality requirements are met.
* Provide regular updates and forecasts on shipping activities to the Sales and Marketing and Port Operations teams.
* Supply accurate shipping-related cost information to the Accounts department for month-end accruals and review freight invoices to ensure timely payment.
* Take responsibility for laytime calculations and ensure smooth handling of all shipping documentation and freight calculations.
* Maintain and update systems to facilitate seamless communication and coordination between Operations, Shipping, Sales and Marketing, logistics and Product Quality teams.
* Conduct vessel vetting and compliance checks to ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
* Attend to all other shipping operations related requirements
What is Required
* Minimum 5-year experience in similar role and industry
* Strong understanding of international shipping terms and regulations
* Vessel operations knowledge
* Chinese and Mandarin is an added advantage
* High degree of capability with Microsoft software
* Strong in communication and attention to details
* A team player
