The Opportunity
Are you a strategic storyteller with a passion for books, ideas and culture? Do you know how to turn a profound scholarly narrative or a gripping trade title into a buzzing public conversation?
Monash University Publishing is looking for a motivated, creative and highly organised Senior Marketing and Publicity Coordinator to elevate our titles, amplify our authors and strengthen our brand on a global stage.
Working directly with the Director and senior leadership, you will be the driving force in how our books reach readers. This is a rare opportunity to blend creative publicity, digital strategy and event management. You will have the autonomy to shape integrated campaigns, reach new audiences with digital content, and create memorable conversations and experiences with compelling public events.
What You'll Do
* Craft the Narrative: Develop and execute high‐impact, multichannel marketing and publicity campaigns for both trade and scholarly titles.
* Own the Digital Space: Lead content creation, social media strategy and web analytics to drive engagement, expand our customer base and convert interest into sales.
* Stage Unforgettable Events: Plan and deliver a high‐quality program of book launches, panel discussions and public events.
* Build Communities: Foster strong, collaborative relationships with authors, media contacts, internal university stakeholders and external partners.
* Lead and Mentor: Champion an inclusive, high‐performing culture, which may involve supervising enthusiastic junior staff, interns and freelance contractors.
Who You Are
You are a motivated, capable and collaborative professional who thrives at the intersection of creativity and data. You know how to seamlessly pivot your tone from an academic audience to a broad trade readership, and you pride yourself on your flawless communication skills. You are collaborative with colleagues and senior leadership to achieve strategic objectives, and you enjoy working in a small, busy team of friendly and committed colleagues.
Your Background
* A tertiary degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field with extensive experience, or an equivalent combination of formidable industry experience and training.
* Proven success in coordinating publicity and marketing campaigns, ideally within publishing, media or the cultural sector.
* Deep practical knowledge of managing digital platforms, executing social media campaigns and analysing data to measure what works.
* Outstanding interpersonal skills with a knack for negotiation, relationship‐building and managing diverse stakeholders with diplomatic flair.
* Highly organised with excellent problem‐solving abilities and the capacity to juggle multiple deadlines.
