Education Assistant - Support Specialist
The Education Assistant - Special Needs role plays a pivotal part in supporting students with special needs.
This position involves working closely with teachers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and school psychologists to foster strong oral language skills in our students.
Key responsibilities include providing expert advice and support to schools and teachers on managing programs for at-risk students, designing and implementing behaviour management plans, and assisting students in acquiring essential self-management skills.
Applicants should have demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, interpersonal abilities, and organisational skills.
They will also be able to collaborate with professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and therapy programs.
The ideal candidate will be committed to working collaboratively as part of a professional team and contributing to the development of the education program.
Applicants should have knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
Preferred qualifications include a Certificate III or IV in Education Support or a related field, or equivalent experience and training.
Training requirements include a Working With Children Check and a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
