Finance Consultant - Strategic Finance Transformation
Our client is a leading telecommunications service provider, delivering connectivity to tens of thousands of customers across both retail and enterprise markets. With a strong reputation in the industry, they are embarking on a full-scale finance transformation project to underpin growth, scalability, and best practice financial management.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional finance role – it is a strategic, hands-on consulting opportunity. As Finance Consultant, you will take ownership of a complete finance function review, breaking down every element of the financial process, conducting a gap analysis, and creating a best-practice financial framework that supports both retail (high-volume, low-transaction) and enterprise (low-volume, high-transaction) operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role: not just advisory, but working directly with the finance team and the broader business to design, implement, and embed the processes and systems that will shape the company’s financial future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a strategic end-to-end review of all finance functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and liabilities.
- Conduct a gap analysis and design fit-for-purpose processes aligned to business needs and outcomes.
- Drive compliance, governance, and best practice reporting across the finance function.
- Partner with operational and technical teams to optimize automation and reporting.
- Establish and embed processes for budgeting, forecasting, spend reconciliation, and debt management.
- Review and validate revenue recognition, deferrals, and financial reporting in line with industry standards.
- Bring strategic insight into financial ratios and trends to support decision-making.
- Engage stakeholders across the business to build a compelling financial strategy and bring people on the journey.
Key Requirements:
- CPA or CA qualified with at least 10 years in financial leadership or consulting.
- Proven track record in finance transformation– not just advising, but implementing.
- Solid experience within the telecommunications or large-scale service provider sector.
- Deep understanding of sector-specific challenges such as revenue recognition, infrastructure costing, and inventory management.
- Commercially sharp, intellectually curious, and driven with a strong passion for strategic change.
- Experienced in leading and influencing teams, with the ability to shift a reactive finance culture into a proactive, strategic one.
- Hands-on experience with financial systems (MYOB experience desirable, with capability to guide system transitions).
