In this role, you'll:
Join the Rail Fleet Programs Branch of the Infrastructure Projects & Engineering Division that lead the development and delivery of capital project outcomes – public transport statewide.
Reporting to the Executive Director Rail Fleet Delivery and as a senior member of the branch's executive leadership team, you will guide the strategic direction, performance and culture of the Regional Rail portfolio. You will lead a high‐profile, high‐risk Program of works central to delivering safe, sustainable, customer‐focused rail services for regional communities.
Oversee complex transport operations and infrastructure delivery, setting clear priorities and maintaining strong governance across scope, cost, quality, risk and performance. You will champion decision‐making transparency and ensure accountability for program funding and outcomes from initiation to completion.
Lead high level consultations and negotiations with contractors as well as with internal Transport for NSW and government agency stakeholders, to successfully deliver customer outcomes.
Work closely with partners across government, industry and ministerial offices, building trusted relationships, navigating competing pressures and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, long‐term public value under significant public scrutiny.
Ensure that safety, sustainability and operational readiness remain at the heart of program delivery, modelling inclusive leadership and fostering a culture built on collaboration, curiosity, and shared purpose.
This is a full‐time fixed term up to 3 years Transport Senior Service Executive TSSE1B level role, offering an attractive remuneration package. Primary work location will be in Greater Sydney region with occasional travel involved to Regional NSW

About you
* Extensive experience leading complex rail, transport or major infrastructure programs.
* A strong record navigating high‐risk, multi‐stakeholder environments with clarity and composure.
* Prior experience working with Rolling Stock highly regarded.
* A track record of high‐level consultations and negotiations, whilst resolving complex issues and challenges and ensure project budgets and milestones are maintained.
* Significant experience leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver strategic portfolios.
* Demonstrated capability managing competing demands across scope, cost, time, quality, risk and stakeholder needs.
* A reputation for sound governance, transparent decision‐making and disciplined program oversight.
* Proven ability to engage confidently with Ministerial office, senior executives and public sector partners and to navigate government processes, and influence in politically sensitive environments.
* Strong understanding of government processes, public value and whole‐of‐state outcomes.
* Commitment to safety, sustainability, people leadership and capability development.
* Previous exposure with working with Unions in regulated environment desirable.
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business Management or relevant discipline, or extensive experience in leading complex transport operations activities.
* Possess a valid Australian motor vehicle driver's license and be willing to work outside regular working hours when required.
