Job Description:
Assisting teachers and students in an educational setting requires a supportive role with specific tasks. As an education support class position, key responsibilities involve performing duties according to guidelines, accepted practices, and school policies under supervision.
* Key objectives include achieving outcomes through specific support tasks, assisting teachers in educational programs by coordinating or undertaking support functions.
* Supervised roles may involve health and wellbeing support, medical intervention, or specialized student/teacher assistance.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will perform the following duties:
* Supporting teachers in planning routines for students.
* Facilitating communication between teachers and parents.
* Communicating routine information with teachers regarding students and other responsibilities.
* Providing physical care and wellbeing support including toileting, meals, and lifting as required.
* Supporting student comprehension of basic tasks and information through clear communication.
* Addressing immediate behavioural issues in accordance with school policy.
* Providing individualized support and supervision for up to four students in a classroom setting.
* Coordinating educational programs independently or with minimal supervision.
* Offering medical intervention support with appropriate training and guidance.
* Providing specialised communication services for students and teachers in areas such as Auslan and braille.
* Performing additional duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Wellbeing and Disability Inclusion teams.
