Overview
WA Country Health Service is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Practitioner (General Medicine) to join Kalgoorlie Hospital in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. There is 1 FTE available and the role is a Fixed-Term Full-Time contract for five years, with the possibility of permanency.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Medical Practitioner in General Medicine at Kalgoorlie Health Campus, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality care to patients across the Goldfields region. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide comprehensive assessment and management of inpatients, outpatients, and emergency presentations under the guidance of Consultant Physicians. You may contribute to education, training, and supervision of junior doctors, helping to build local medical workforce capacity and strengthen the standard of care across the region. There is also opportunity to broaden your scope through outreach to other sites such as Esperance Hospital, including the use of Telehealth to support colleagues and patients in remote locations.

You have broad experience managing a wide range of medical presentations, are adaptable, resourceful, and thrive in diverse clinical settings. Your approach is collaborative and culturally sensitive, and you value working with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for regional and Aboriginal communities. You are motivated by continuous learning, clinical education, and contributing to service development that strengthens the regional medical workforce. Eligibility Requirements
Due to limited supervision capacity at Kalgoorlie Hospital, SIMGs may have restricted supervision. Preference will be given to applicants residing in Australia who:
* Hold unrestricted General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
* Have at least two years of clinical experience in Australia or a recognised Competent Authority country
Exceptional overseas candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Australian citizenship or permanent residency is essential for permanent positions in the public sector; visa holders may be appointed on fixed-term contracts.

Other Conditions
This selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies within the health service for up to twelve months. WA Health reserves the right to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checks. A Western Australia Working With Children Check is required. Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA) is mandatory and offers are conditional on satisfactory PEHA results.
