Job Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Grounds Maintenance Operative.
* Maintain the college grounds, including green spaces, woodchip gallop, fibre sand arena, and paddocks, ensuring they are well-maintained and safe for use.
* Carry out repairs to post, stud, and rail fences, ensuring they are secure and in good condition.
* Manage the stock of hay, straw, and haylage in barns and paddocks, ensuring there is sufficient supply for the needs of the college.
* Operate a range of machinery, including tractors, trailers, strimmers, blowers, pedestrian/ride on mowers, and other equipment, ensuring they are used safely and efficiently.
* Possibility of spraying with PA1/PA6 certification, subject to relevant training and qualification.
This role will require the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
* To maintain the college grounds to a high standard, including regular inspections and reporting any maintenance issues.
* To repair and replace fencing as required, ensuring it is safe and secure.
* To manage stock levels, ensuring there is sufficient supply of hay, straw, and haylage for the needs of the college.
* To operate machinery safely and efficiently, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
* To assist with other duties as required, such as cleaning and maintaining equipment, and participating in training and development opportunities.
