Primary objective The position is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of accounting and support services across the agency, in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural frameworks. It provides service delivery and advice to diverse stakeholders regarding accounts payable and receivable, debt management, hospitality, official travel, corporate credit cards, fleet management and associated systems. Context statement The Finance Systems and Innovation team is responsible for providing high-quality financial support services to government schools in urban and remote locations. The services include the development of policy and governance, resource development, delivery of training, streamlining administrative processes, monitoring, and reporting performance and finance system development and support. Clients include but are not limited to principals and administration staff of schools, corporate staff, and related external stakeholders. The priorities and activities undertaken by the section are varied and change according to DoE needs. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining currency of financial policies, procedures, and associated resources for the financial management of schools. 2. Assists administer various finance and corporate systems and support school system enquiries. 3. Assists develop support material, provide advice and training to agency staff and schools. 4. Support leadership with administrative tasks. 5. Ensure transactions comply with agency and government legislation, policies and procedures. Selection criteria Essential 1. An awareness and knowledge of financial management and procurement legislation, governance frameworks, financial administration principles and procedures. 2. Competency in the use of office automation software, financial systems, spreadsheets and databases. 3. An ability to work independently with minimal supervision, use initiative and judgement to deliver quality outcomes in a changing environment with tight deadlines. 4. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to cater for a range of stakeholders with the ability to provide system and policy advice to users. 5. An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures. Desirable 1. Qualifications in accounting, finance, or business.
