Registrar - Trainee - Neonatology
Position Profile
The Registrar Trainee positions in Neonatal Paediatrics will be part of a busy team working with the support of 10 neonatologists, enthusiastic teachers and mentors. FSH has a 24 bed Level 5-6 NICU with over 3700 births per year. The state of art neonatal unit is equipped with advanced intensive care facilities such as neonatal ventilators including high‐frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide and therapeutic hypothermia facilities. Currently FSH NICU cares for neonates born >26 weeks gestation with the aim to lower the gestation further in the near future. There is a provision of pasteurised donor human milk (PDHM) for eligible neonates. FSH NICU is accredited for a 3‐month basic trainee (core neonatal) from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

Fiona Stanley Hospital is a 783‐bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services, including State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose‐built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. The hospital also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine. It hosts one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the country, a separate paediatric emergency department with a 4‐bed observation ward, a mother‐baby unit (8 beds), and a youth mental‐health inpatient service (16‐25 yrs 12 beds). The ambulatory service includes a 24‐bed Level 2 general paediatrics area, developmental paediatrics, adolescent health, neonatology, paediatric subspecialties (neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, respiratory, surgery, immunology) in a paediatric‐adapted clinic space.

* Work will commence 6‐12 months, fixed term, with possibility of extensions, and is available until 30 October 2026.
