Engineer - Open Cut Mining
We are seeking a keen and passionate engineer to join our high-performing team at our QCoal Northern Hub. This location offers a unique opportunity for those wanting to live near the beach and be home every night while working in a positive environment and developing their skills in mining engineering.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of open cut mining, confidence in Vulcan, and interest in developing scheduling skills in Spry. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality mine plans and designs for our open-cut coal mine.
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivering short-term planning outputs such as dig and dump designs, data analysis, dozer push designs, rehab designs, operational plans, and potentially developing skills in Spry for mine planning.
* Communicating designs effectively with the production team.
* Delivering weekly planning packs.
* Ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
* Providing information for reporting requirements.
* Assisting the drill and blast engineer as needed.
* Aessing operational efficiency opportunities and proposing innovative solutions.
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years' operational mining engineering experience, preferably in open cut mining.
- Experience with MS Office, Vulcan, XPAC or SPRY, Deswik, 3D Dig, or similar software.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and engage with the production department.
- Keen, passionate, and positive attitude.
- Commitment to health and safety best practices.
- Excellent behavioral, time management, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
