The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.
We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional Hotel Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our property. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys helping people and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service. This is a casual position, and the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work across different shifts including weekdays, weekends and public holidays as required – 1 to 2 shifts per week.
Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver professional and welcoming reception services to guests in person, over the phone and online
Manage reservations, check-ins, check-outs and guest enquiries efficiently and accurately
Liaise with internal departments to ensure smooth daily operations
Support urgent housekeeping or guest room matters as required to maintain service standards
Provide guest assistance and handle feedback with professionalism and a solutions-focused approach
Maintain accurate financial transactions and guest records in accordance with Sovereign Hill policies
Uphold property safety, security and cleanliness protocols
Promote Sovereign Hill experiences, services and local knowledge to enhance the overall guest stay
Who We Are Looking for Someone Who
Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Enjoys genuine human interaction and is passionate about creating memorable guest experiences
Is a creative problem solver, stays calm and composed under pressure
Is hands-on and willing to roll up their sleeves when unexpected situations arise
Is proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer systems
Preferably has previous hotel or accommodation reception experience; PMS knowledge is an advantage
Is a team player who thrives on shared success and is ready to step up when needed
