Be Bold. Belong. Be More.

At Southern Cross University, we do things differently, and so can you.

A career with us is more than you might expect. Yes, it’s about the heart, connectedness and community you’d hope for in a regional university. But there’s also so much more. Our game changing Southern Cross Model brings a deeper, focused learning experience and our research is deeply connected to our regions, making a difference on a global scale. This is your chance to help us build something new and meaningful for our students, our communities and your career. To drive change, make a real impact, and thrive in a place as unique as you.

You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great.

Your opportunity

Southern Cross University is on an ambitious journey to strengthen the quality and accuracy of our financial reporting in a dynamic and changing environment. Our newly formed Revenue Accounting team plays a critical role in enabling this, delivering highly accurate revenue recognition, quality reporting, and forward revenue estimates in a timely and accurate manner to drive month end, budget and forecast processes.

We’re seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue and Reporting to lead and enhance the University’s tuition revenue reporting capability. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting & Reporting, this is a highly autonomous specialist role, focused on ensuring the accuracy, integrity and strategic use of student revenue data across Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth funding streams. This role will also be responsible for core monthly reporting around tuition revenue across the PNL and Balance Sheet.

In addition to the above, you will work closely with other finance team members, Student Services and operational teams to deliver meaningful insights, maintain robust financial models, and continuously improve reporting frameworks. This role is suited to someone who enjoys working with complex data, influencing decision-making, and driving improvements in systems and processes, whilst also having strong accounting skills.

You will make an impact by:

* Facilitating robust planning and subsequent reporting of tuition revenue across all funding streams
* Lead liaison with the Commonwealth on funding arrangements and oversight of revenue reconciliations
* Being a subject matter expert with our Technology One Student Administration System and Finance One tools
* Delivering high quality financial analysis on SCU revenue and insights to support decision-making
* Developing and enhancing financial models, reporting frameworks and data processes
* Supporting month-end reporting and key financial reporting requirements
* Partnering with stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and continuous improvement

What you will bring

You’re a highly analytical and commercially minded finance professional who thrives on working with complex data and translating it into clear, actionable insights. You bring strong technical capability in financial modelling and reporting, including compliance to the Australian Accounting Standards, along with the confidence to work autonomously and take ownership of a critical function.

You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys improving processes and systems, and you build trusted relationships through clear communication and practical advice. You are comfortable navigating complexity and working across teams to deliver outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you will also need:

* CPA/CA qualification or equivalent experience and a relevant degree
* Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, modelling and large data sets
* Strong experience in financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting
* Experience working with complex systems and data environments
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
* An ability for occasional inter-campus travel between our Lismore and Gold Coast campuses

Experience in the higher education sector would be highly valued, however applicants from outside the sector, with comparable experience and a desire to be part of a supportive finance team, are also encouraged to apply.
