About the Role
Seeking an experienced Senior Networking Engineer to support the Modernisation of Maritime Electronic Warfare (MMEW) Program. This role will deliver specialist communications network engineering services across network design, security implementation, configuration, and ongoing management within a secure defence environment.
This is a hands‐on technical role suited to a highly capable engineer who thrives in secure, mission‐critical environments and can operate independently while mentoring others.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop detailed network designs, supporting documentation, and oversee physical deployment
* Configure and manage switches, routers, and firewalls
* Manage servers, workstations, and edge devices
* Implement network hardening and security controls in line with ISM cybersecurity requirements
* Conduct testing and validation of deployed networks
* Troubleshoot network issues, including packet capture analysis
* Support general DevOps and Platform Engineering activities
* Mentor and upskill team members on deployed network solutions
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years' relevant networking experience
* Strong hands‐on experience deploying and configuring networking hardware
* Experience with VMware NSX, Cilium, and Cisco technologies
* Familiarity with RHEL/Linux environments
* Solid understanding of routing principles including:
* BGP
* Policy‐Based Routing
* Traffic Shaping
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and workflows
* Advanced knowledge of Windows configuration and management
* Experience with scripting and programming languages
