Job Description
As a seasoned accounting professional, you will play a pivotal role in leading our finance team while working closely with senior management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
This critical position oversees end-to-end accounting processes, payroll, and IT support, maintaining the integrity of the Group's general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controls.
You will be responsible for shaping finance systems and processes, driving continuous improvement, and providing technical accounting expertise to support strategic business decisions.
* Coordinate monthly internal and external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Deliver profit & loss reports, monthly accruals, and reconciliations.
* Oversee external regulatory reporting (GST, payment times, payroll reporting, state revenue office obligations).
* Manage year-end reporting and audit activities.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
* Ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly internal and external financial reporting.
* Deliver profit & loss reports, monthly accruals, and reconciliations.
* Oversee external regulatory reporting (GST, payment times, payroll reporting, state revenue office obligations).
* Manage year-end reporting and audit activities.
Finance Operations & Process Improvement
* Oversee finance systems from transaction source through to general ledger.
* Collaborate on the design, implementation, and review of finance policies, systems, and procedures.
* Model financial implications of business changes and support strategic decision-making.
* Identify and implement process efficiencies and automation.
* Monitor and forecast short-term cash requirements.
* Manage annual insurance renewals and liaise with insurance providers.
Technical Accounting Support
* Provide advice and resolution on complex technical accounting issues.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
* Work with external experts (e.g., Chartered Accounting firms) where necessary.
Leadership & Team Development
* Lead and mentor finance, payroll, and IT teams.
* Set goals, KPIs, and performance objectives for team members.
* Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
* Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
* Payroll & IT Oversight
* Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
* Oversee IT support and technology infrastructure management.
* Stakeholder Engagement
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Act as a business partner to management, providing financial insights.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years in a senior management accounting or financial role within a complex organisation.
3-5 years' experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
CA or CPA qualified, with a tertiary degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Advanced expertise in accounting, financial management, tax, and commercial analysis.
Proven ability to implement process improvements and efficiencies across finance operations.
Strong experience with large ERP systems; knowledge of Microsoft Business Central and Power BI desirable.
Skilled in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with GST, FBT, and regulatory requirements.
Exceptional ability to turn complex data into clear commercial insights for decision-making.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to deliver cross-functional initiatives.
Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills across all organisational levels.
High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality, and meeting deadlines.
Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Forms).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with proactive anticipation of challenges.
