The role is part time with flexible hours (~0.6 FTE; 3 days/ week) to be determined in conversation with the successful candidate.
The role does not require any knowledge of, or participation in the sport of water polo or within a community sporting organisation.
The role of Operations Manager has been separated from Competitions Manager. However, if the successful candidate has extensive knowledge of water polo and/ or the administration of a community sport, the roles may be combined into one (FT) role.
The position offers flexibility and autonomy and the opportunity to work in a small team in a well-respected local organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Governance
* Assist the EO as required
Operational Management
* Drafting, and management of, sponsorships, grants and other contracts and agreements
* Contract management experience is preferred but training can be provided for motivated candidates
* Responsible for completing day-to-day operational tasks including,
o Diary management (EO)
o Email management
o Governance (Board and Committee) administration
o Meeting administration
* Assist with administrative tasks related to competition management (as required in consultation with competitions manager)
Financial and Commercial Oversight
* Administration and management of procurements and contracts
* Input of invoices for payment
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including member clubs, Water Polo Australia, government agencies, sponsors and commercial partners, community groups and volunteers
* Champion a member-centric culture that fosters transparency, consultation, and responsiveness
Sport Development and Participation Growth
* Provide administrative support for initiatives to drive regional engagement and access to the sport (as needed in consultation with EO and Regional Development Officer)
Marketing, Communications and Brand
* Assist in the preparation of communication and marketing tasks that promote WPACT and its programs
* Assist in web site and social media management
Workplace Health, Safety and Compliance
* Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment aligned with employment legislation and best practice
* Comply with all legal, governance, financial, child safety and sporting integrity obligations and provide appropriate administrative support

Water Polo ACT is the state/ territory association overseeing water polo in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). WPACT is an affiliated association of Water Polo Australia (WPA) and we work in partnership to develop the sport within Canberra and the surrounding region. WPACT is a not-for-profit sporting organisation.
