Driver at the Malta High Commission in Canberra (Light Maintenance&Gardening) vacancy post
The High Commission of Malta in Canberra has a vacancy for a Driver (with some light maintenance and gardening duties). The appointment is for an indefinite period.
This is a role that supports the High Commissioner and the High Commission’s day-to-day operations. The successful candidate would be entrusted with professional driving duties, together with light property maintenance and basic gardening/grounds upkeep across official premises.
The successful applicant will be responsible for driving, support and upkeep duties. The duties will include but not be limited to the following:
· Chauffeur/driver to the High Commissioner, and driving duties for the High Commission as instructed.
· Drive, maintain and operate light vehicles; carry out daily checks on vehicles and report any damage immediately.
· Regularly clean vehicles internally and externally.
· Keep records of all journeys in a logbook and ensure that necessary endorsements and information are in place.
· Ensure vehicles are taken for servicing regularly, according to given instructions.
· Deliver correspondence and assist in loading and unloading when necessary.
· General property maintenance (light duties) and basic handyman support when required.
· Light gardening and grounds upkeep duties, including basic garden care and disposal of garden waste when required.
· Basic administration support and outgoing mail, as required.
· Any other related duties as assigned by the High Commissioner and/or the Deputy High Commissioner.
The basic qualifications for the position include the following:
· Australian citizenship or permanent residence (or valid working rights with no restrictions).
· A clean national police certificate.
· Current Australian Driver’s Licence with a clean history; professional driving experience is highly regarded.
· Punctuality, reliability and trustworthiness.
· Solid interpersonal skills.
· An ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
· Experience in light maintenance and/or gardening duties will be considered an asset.
