About This Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Senior Lecturer & Site Coordinator (Gladstone) to lead and support the delivery of the medical education program in the Gladstone region. In this pivotal academic role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for teaching and learning, working closely with students, staff, clinicians, and community partners to ensure a high-quality, locally contextualised medical education experience.

You’ll play a key role in mentoring students, strengthening regional partnerships, and ensuring that the Gladstone site is a dynamic, well-connected part of the broader medical program.

Key responsibilities will include:
o Teaching: Provide academic leadership for Year 3 and 4 medical students at the Gladstone site, including coordination of teaching, clinical immersions, student support, assessment, and the delivery of remediation or extension activities as needed.
o Contribute to clinical teaching and assessment, support student progress monitoring, deliver clinical staff training, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to ensure a high-quality, engaging learning experience, while actively participating in professional development.
o Research (where applicable) : Maintain a strong personal academic profile through ongoing research and scholarship, including education-based or discipline-specific research.
o Support student research and scholarly projects while contributing to the growth of the Medical Pathway’s research capacity through collaborative projects with UQ academics, clinicians, and external partners.
o Supervision and Researcher Development: Foster others in the responsible conduct of research. Effectively lead and develop student performance and conduct by providing feedback, coaching, and professional development.

About You
o Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a non-GP specialist or general practice qualification permitting specialist registration with AHPRA.
o An established profile in clinical teaching.
o Expert knowledge and experience in a general or specialist clinical capacity, including evidence of knowledge of current education best practise.
o Evidence of a substantial senior contribution to quality clinical teaching at undergraduate postgraduate and/or professional entry level.
o Experience in undertaking or facilitating research or scholarship of teaching and learning.
o A record of contribution to the supervision of medical students
o Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the RCS within hospitals and health care facilities at a university level and in the wider community including professional bodies
o High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues and the wider community
o A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding, living and working in a rural and/or regional area
