The client, Goulburn Motor Group in Shepparton, Victoria, is looking to hire a motivated individual to join their team as a Motor Mechanic. The group deals with brands including Ford, Honda, Volkswagen, Audi, Jaguar, LDV and Land Rover.
The annual base salary is $60,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation, based on experience, and the role is located in Shepparton, Victoria.
Responsibilities
* Test parts and diagnose various systems and perform corrective repairs to ensure proper operation
* Identify mechanical problems using diagnostic equipment
* Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined
* Test and lubricate the engine and major components
* Perform basic maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, and tire rotations
* Repair or replace worn parts such as brake pads and wheel bearings
* Dismantle and reassemble engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components; inspect parts
* Use testing equipment to verify repairs and maintenance
* Explain automotive problems and repairs to clients; provide estimates
* Communicate repair needs and budgets with front office management for company-owned vehicles
* Provide quotations and perform repairs on vehicles not owned by the company as work is generated through internal referrals
* Perform physical tasks (bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, etc.) as required
* Perform tune-ups, welding and metalwork, and maintain records of repairs
* Explain work performed to front staff for system documentation
* Operate diagnostic instruments and hand, electric, and air-driven tools
* Repair brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle, steering and related systems
* Comply with safety protocols and maintain a safe, friendly workplace
* Perform scheduled maintenance services to ensure smooth running and pollution regulation compliance
* Test drive vehicles after repairs to verify mechanical soundness and identify any additional issues
Qualifications
* Minimum AQF Certificate III; desirable Certificate IV in Automotive Light Vehicle & Diagnosis
* At least 3 years of relevant experience in a commercial dealership workshop
* Experience working on Ford, Honda, Volkswagen, Audi, Jaguar, LDV and Land Rover vehicles (or similar models) with factory tools
* Experience with Asian and international automotive models
* Must have at least 3 years of experience with Hybrid and EV vehicles
* Experience with mechanical systems and diagnostic equipment
* Proficient with hand and power tools
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find suitable resolutions
* Excellent work ethic and goal orientation
* Current driver's license; able to drive manual vehicles
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Able to pass a drug and alcohol test
* Verifiable work references
